Welcome to The Monthly 60: January is AI AI AI
Welcome to The Monthly 60.
Before we get spicy: shout-out to the 46 absolute legends who showed up for our December conversation on evaluation beyond Level 1. I really enjoyed our conversations and hope to carry that energy into this year.
Alright. Let’s do the thing.

January topic: AI AI AI January 16 at 1:00PM ET
I'm not interested in AI conversations that are hype and fear based, these prompts and conversations targeting AI for this session are focused on what's working and not working for you, where are people getting tripped up (myself included), how we think about quality, scale, and risk, and experimentation. As a reminder, a community isn't one voice or a few voices but should be all our voices so no matter your level of AI expertise, you do have valuable insights to share!
What to expect if you are new here
If this is your first time joining us, welcome! Here is a high level view of what to expect.
1) The Zoom will open 15 minutes early along with our Mural board. Feel free to drop in early if you'd like but we will start promptly at 1:00PM ET.
2) When you enter the Zoom and the Mural, you'll see several discussion headings. Our first 15 minutes we stay on "Enter the Room" so claim a sticky, share your information and also let us know if you are a job seeker and/or hiring as we like to elevate those needs in our community.
3) Around 1:03PM ET we start break out rooms to give everyone an opportunity to network. We keep these rooms open around 10 mins so if you want to skip networking, join us at 1:13PM ET.
4) At 1:13PM ET we start rotating through our discussion topics. Participate to level that makes you feel comfortable. You can talk about what you added, ask a question, share thoughts in the chat, or hang out and observe. Your call. Each section is timed and you'll be able to watch the timer on Mural. We are using Mural to make the conversation is as inclusive as possible and we have the opportunity to explore multiple viewpoints. Once time is up, we'll rotate to the next topic.
5) At 1:55PM ET we start wrapping up. Wrap up includes you committing to a topic to keep exploring, a person to continue a conversation with, or an experiment that you'd like to try. Depending on how the conversation goes tomorrow, we may have an experimentation/accountability session if folks want to keep the momentum going.
6) We formally conclude at 2:00PM ET but I'll stick around if there are any questions/follow-ups needed.
We are in building mode (and I'd love your help)
The Monthly 60 is being built with the people in it. Some folks have reached out looking to get involved but here are some roles I need help with:
Content-In this role, you'd share recaps of our events that can be published to The Monthly 60's website.
Producer-This role consists of providing Zoom production support during our live meet-ups.
Community Management- As we continue to grow and expand, we are going to be looking into a platform for asynchronous community conversations like a Discord. This role would help moderate and determine channels and topics for our platform.
Facilitators-This role leads the discussion of one of our topics for the month (please note this isn't the full session, one of the discussion headings like "The Real Issue" or "Tool Talk").
If you are interested in any of these, please send me an email at caranorth11@gmail.com.
Coming up!
We do have the topics of the next two meet-ups finalized based on the feedback from the community on what they are looking for:
Feb 13, 2026 at 1:00PM ET: Career Development
March 13, 2026 at 1:00PM ET: Learning Ecosystems
Written organically all by me and from the heart,
Cara
P.S. If you know one smart learning person who would love this kind of space, feel free to forward this. That’s how this grows in a way that stays human.
